7D6N deep jungle trek in Bukit Lawang, Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Explore the heart of the rainforest on a 7D6N deep jungle trek in Bukit Lawang, Kalimantan, Indonesia. Journey through untouched tropical forest, encounter wildlife in its natural habitat, experience jungle camping, and learn survival skills guided by experienced local experts.
Day 1

The 7D6N Deep Jungle Trek begins in Bukit Lawang at 9:00 AM after breakfast. We’ll spend approximately 5–7 hours trekking through Gunung Leuser National Park, with opportunities to encounter wildlife such as gibbons, leaf monkeys, long-tailed and pig-tailed macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatran peacocks, hornbills, and, of course, orangutans.
Along the way, our experienced guide will share knowledge about medicinal plants and their practical uses. In the afternoon, we make our way to the campsite to rest, enjoy a warm drink, and refresh ourselves with a bath in a clear jungle stream. The day ends with a candlelight dinner and an overnight stay at our jungle camp.
Day 2

Waking up in the heart of the primary rainforest feels truly magical, as the fresh morning air is filled with birdsong and the calls of lively gibbons.
After breakfast, we begin a 5–6 hour trek to our next campsite, usually known as “Aras Pinang.” Along the journey, we take time to enjoy the surrounding nature and wildlife, taste a variety of edible jungle foods, and learn how to identify and use them. A lunch break is enjoyed midway through the trek, right in the jungle.
Upon arriving at camp, there’s time to unwind and take a refreshing swim in a clear jungle river, before closing the day with a warm campfire dinner.
Day 3
Today, we leave the familiar jungle paths of Bukit Lawang behind and cross the Berkail River, entering the untouched deep jungle—an area with no marked trails, no human presence, and no phone signal. This is nature in its rawest form, where wildlife lives freely and every rare encounter feels truly special.
This remote region lies beyond the usual guiding zones of Bukit Lawang. From this point on, the journey is led by a former poacher who spent many years living deep in the jungle and now uses their knowledge and experience to share the rainforest’s hidden wonders while supporting conservation efforts.
During the day, you’ll develop essential survival skills such as fishing with handmade tools, building simple jungle shelters, identifying edible forest fruits, and locating clean water, all with guidance from our experienced team.
Day 4
Today, we continue our journey with a full day of deep jungle exploration, with the possibility of encountering signs of rare wildlife such as wild Sumatran elephants or even tiger tracks. The ever-changing nature of the wilderness makes each moment unique and far removed from the noise of everyday life.
Surrounded by this pristine environment, we fully immerse ourselves in nature—clearing our minds, letting go of distractions, and appreciating the simple beauty of the rainforest and Mother Earth.
As the afternoon arrives, we select a suitable location to build our shelter, relax, enjoy shared moments of fun, and come together to enjoy a warm, satisfying meal.
Day 5

We wake up to the lively sounds of monkeys and birds echoing through the forest, welcoming another day in the jungle. Today, we continue our search for wild orangutans, elephants, or other fascinating wildlife, such as flying squirrels.
As the day unfolds, our conversations deepen and our curiosity about the rainforest grows, allowing us to expand our knowledge of the deep jungle. Did you know that flying squirrels can glide up to 50 meters and even make sharp turns while in the air?
In the afternoon, we look for a suitable spot to build our shelter, where we can rest, enjoy shared moments of fun, and come together for a warm dinner.
Day 6
We begin the morning with breakfast and a final cup of coffee, taking in the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the deep jungle. As we get ready to head back toward the more accessible jungle area, we cross the Berkail River once again, continuing our wildlife exploration through the primary rainforest.
After spending time deep in the wilderness, we may notice subtle differences in animal behavior, as wildlife in this area tends to be more familiar with human presence. Our trek leads us to one of our campsites, where we can relax, cool off with a refreshing swim, and end the day with a cozy campfire dinner.
Day 7
For the last time, we enjoy a peaceful jungle breakfast in Gunung Leuser National Park. There is an option to take one final morning trek through the rainforest before beginning our journey back to Bukit Lawang.
To wrap up the adventure, our tube rafts are prepared for a fun and refreshing ride along the jungle river. Alternatively, we may choose to return on foot, depending on personal preference and current river conditions.
